Venue : Bar44, Guisborough
Date : August 19 2005
Bands : Death in Blood, Dawn of Chaos

We walk in to a siren-like wail from Death in Bloods lead "singer", and it's clear to see we are in for another night of screams at Guisborough's Bar 44. Refreshingly kids are being ID'd at the bar and this signals a glimmer of hope for the once doomed venue.

Death in Blood play hardcore metal, and try to distance themselves from all the "commercial emo shite" on show. Personally i can tell little difference between the wails of their singer and any EMO band...i guess it's in the lyrical content again.
The songs are kept moving due to a heavy double bass and trash-the-fuck-out-of-my-cymbals technique, again fuck knows what the singer is going on about, but the crowd seem well into it, a contrast to previous weeks where the reaction has been static. There's plenty of appreciative moshing from tonights slipknot cretins, who seem to love Death in Blood's ANTICOMMERCIAL stance too...

Death in Blood certainly do seem to draw influences from the heavier screamo side of metal, but with their bassist wearing a SPINAL TAP tshirt its also clear they do possess some style too.

"THIS ONE's CALLED FUCKSHEEPSLAYLAMB"

Unfortunately local-hearttrob Weam is absent from tonights show, which is a shame as i'd have loved to have something lighthearted to put here. Still perhaps these photos may provide some light amusement.

Last Song - "FUNERAL(?)" includes some great Thin Lizzy duelling thirds along with bass lines that perfectly compliment the guitarists solo-ing towards the end of the song. This is the best song of the night by a country mile, and stands out of their set as a song that has been both well rehersed and well thought out, reminicient, i am told, of bands such as Dragonforce.

Dawn of Chaos, somehow manage to be both louder, and more screamier than the previous band, and also claim to be "CATCHIER THAN A SLUT WITH THE CLAP"

Their bassist is clearly a hidden talent as the bass lines are lost in the music, but on closer inspection his fingerwork seems to be pretty fast and impressive. Again the guitar solo's are the most impressive part of this Hartlepool outfit.

The crowd seem to genuinely enjoy and relate to the band, with a pit forming towards the end of the set.
