Obsessive Compulsive - The Corpses Of Thought e.p

Obsessive Compulsive brings us ‘The Corpses of thought’. Metal with a grungey twist. A very tight band indeed, particularly noticeable with the drums.

Not usually a fan of female vocals in metal but they fit well here. sounding like a female Layne Staley, a very talented voice indeed.  There is dark guitar riffage throughout, most of it pretty darn good for what it is. Because of the style of music the quieter dark menacing bits need to be done just right.

On this record it starts too sound a bit moany more than anything in places. Some slower bits are just a bit boring, and a little  empty sounding. There are however some nice shreddy solos in here however. There is nothing in particular that stands out for me unfortunately, although the band obviously know how to write a good song.

Overall a pretty average listen, despite obviously being a determined and passionate band, but there are some definite gems in this record.
