If you like metal that’s hard, fast and unashamedly heavy then you’ve probably already heard of Job for a Cowboy. And if you haven’t, then you’ve been missing out. Whilst not being hugely well known in the mainstream, Job for a Cowboy have a strong and loyal underground fan base, forged by powerful and energetic live shows and an ability to produce music that pulls no punches and has no confusion over what it wants to achieve.
Technically complicated but pulled off very well by talented musicians, each song is full of the kind of messed up time signatures, insanely fast drum beats and skilled guitar work that some bands can only dream of. Impressive and memorable, the riffs and melodies give the punctuated drumming and roaring vocals just the right amount of musical edge.
This is a definite progression from previous releases, even more confident than before and with a bigger focus on hooks and riffs that are impossible to ignore with their macabre sound. However, this is still very much Job For a Cowboy who always have that unique edge to them which makes them instantly identifiable to fans. For those people, this album won’t disappoint, and for newcomers it’s a great introduction to a hugely talented band.
