January 29 2007 - 30 Seconds To Mars - ‘Attack’ Single & First UK Live Dates

Video -'Attack' Windows Media

30 Seconds To Mars will release ‘Attack’ on 19th February; the first single to be taken from their hugely successful U.S. album, ‘A Beautiful Lie’.

30 Seconds To Mars was formed by Jared Leto, who is famous for his roles in such films as Requiem For a Dream and Fight Club, and set to play John Lennon’s murderer in next year’s biopic of Mark Chapman; Chapter 27. The band comprises: Jared Leto, vocals and guitar; Shannon Leto, drums; Tomo Milicevic, guitars; and Matt Wachter, bass. Since forming in 2001 and releasing their debut album in 2002, they have gone from
strength-to-strength as musicians, songwriters and live performers, with  the new abum selling over 900,000 copies to date in the U.S. The success of this album was further acknowledged by MTV, who awarded the band MTV Best Video Award for the video to their ‘The Kill’ single.

‘Attack’ features vast, abrasive guitars and infectious vocals, which soar from a pain-stricken wail to an intimate whisper. It’s an introduction to a lyrically direct and progressive album, which is lean and impacting, with
focussed eclecticism which compliments the honesty of the songwriting. From start to finish, ‘A Beautiful Lie’ is a story riddled with pain, frustration, ambition, and ultimately purification. It's not a concept album per se, but it's certainly conceptual, unravelling like scenes from a spellbinding film about a man on the precipice of collapse who has to
change in order to move forward.

30 Seconds To Mars will head to the UK in January for promo and live dates:

Wed 31st Jan              MDH Academy 2, Manchester (upgraded from Roadhouse)
Thurs 1st Feb             Electric Ballroom, London (upgraded from Underworld)

Both gigs upgraded due to demand.

‘Attack’ will be released on 19th February, followed by the album ‘A Beautiful Lie’ on 26th.

January 16 2007 - KILLSWITCH ENGAGE POSTPONE SHOWS; GUITARIST UNDERGOES EMERGENCY SURGERY

Metal favourites Killswitch Engage were forced to postpone three sold-out shows of their current European headlining tour at the last minute on Saturday January 13 when guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz was deemed too injured to play.

Following months of recuperation after previous back surgery for a herniated disc, Adam had been touring in the USA with little to no incident, but after a week of shows in the UK, the guitarist found himself suffering increasing back pain, spending the time before and after shows lying flat with a bag of ice on his lower back, in an effort to continue touring. By Saturday however, the pain had risen to such a level that a local doctor rushed him to hospital in London, only hours before the band were due to take the stage at Brixton Academy. To make matters worse, vocalist Howard Jones was suffering from a chest infection. At that point, the band had still intended to play the evening’s show.

After a series of tests in hospital, Adam was informed his back injury was so severe, he could definitely not continue the European tour, nor fly home – and would in fact need urgent surgery. Killswitch Engage had no choice but to postpone their shows in London, Bristol, and Paris while a Plan B was devised.  Naturally, the band were worried about Adam and extremely disappointed he would not be able to finish the tour. Equally, they did not want to let their fans down by canceling the remaining 16 European shows.

Therefore, ex-Soilwork guitarist Peter Wichers has been flown over from the USA to fill in for Adam for the duration of the European dates. The band have been rehearsing with Peter since his arrival in the UK, and the tour will resume in Holland on January 17. In a brief statement the band said, “Adam will be missed, but he wants the tour to go on… we will try to miss as few shows as possible, and make up as many as we can. We appreciate all the messages and concern that everyone has shown.”

We are relieved to report that Adam’s surgery went well, and he is now recuperating in hospital with family at his bedside. He will fly home in a few days.

The band have rescheduled the London show for January 29, and are currently looking at options to reschedule the Bristol date. All tickets for the original shows remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

January 15 2007 - THE HEDRONS Single  ‘HEATSEEKER’ Single Released 8th January 2007

Fresh from making history and becoming the first British band to play a Virtual Gig on the internet phenomenon Second Life, The  Hedrons release their third single ‘Heatseeker’ on 8th January 2007 through Measured Records/Pinnacle. The track will be available in CD, limited edition 7” vinyl and Digital Download formats and is taken from their debut album ‘One More Won’t Kill Us’ due for release on 5th February.

By the end of 2006 The Hedrons will have played in excess of 120 shows across the country including debut appearances at Download, T In The Park and Guilfest, they also supported the legendary Alice In Chains, and their second single ‘I Need You’ was playlisted at XFM London, and broke the Top 5 of the Indie chart.

Hailing from Glasgow, The Hedrons are… Chi (Bass), Rosie (Lead Guitar), Soup (Drums) and Tippi (Lead Vocals).

The Hedrons met in 2005, and the outcome was what music had been craving… an all girl rock band with songs that bite and drag you in, and a live show with such vigour and energy they are becoming impossible to ignore!
